Oregon Coast Getaway

Well the end of July found us heading out of town for Robi's first trip to the Oregon Coast. Growing up with regular trips there and loving every moment of them made me all the more excited to share the experience with him. We stayed at the Thousand Trails campground in Pacific City. A great location since we have amazing friends there and in nearby Tillamook. For the record: our camping was a modular bungalow...there's no way in hell you will get mom and dad in a tent. Ha Ha.We found out the hard way that the campground Nazi's will, in fact, pull you over if you break the 5 mph limit...Robi??? We had wonderful evenings with our friends. They included great conversation, good drinks, and lots of steamed oysters. The weather was beautiful and we were able to get ice cream at Tillamook Cheese factory, cruise through Cannon Beach, and play in Seaside...by play I mean 2 hours in the arcade and some lunch. That was just Monday. Tuesday was a mellow day of shopping in Lincoln City, then we moved on to Mo's for some of the best clam chowder ever. Robi and I walked the beach that night and had the entire place to ourself...we did lots of walking in the surf and racing down the dunes. Wednesday we traveled to the Newport Aquarium...what an experience. Yet again it was a beautifully clear day. The afternoon was spent walking around the waterfront. That night was filled with competitive games of Uno...you should have seen my dad and Robi. Thursday was going to be our mellow day, and that it was...breakfast in the bungalow...long walk on the beach...crazy hike up and run down the Cape Kiwanda dunes. Dinner at the always wonderful Riverhouse. The night was capped off with great chats with Aunt Pat, Lucy, & Scott. Friday was a fun filled day at the Oregon Zoo...I don't care how old I am that train ride is really fun. We are so blessed to have spent this time with family and look forward to the next summer adventure.
